I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and well during these challenging times. Like all of you, everyone at You Have the Power is looking forward to a return to a healthy, fully functioning state and nation.
Currently, all YHTP staff are working from home in compliance with Nashville’s “safer-in-place” order. We anticipated this development and were well-prepared when the time came that we had to work from remote.
We’re using this downtime to refine our programs and presentations. Starting last year, our staff and leadership began discussing how we could adapt our materials for virtual audiences, presenting our sessions as webinars for students and professionals. We originally planned to start this process in May. All the current crisis did was move up our timetable and provide us with spare time to focus more on this project.
For the foreseeable future, YHTP has postponed all previously scheduled presentations. But we look forward to visiting all the colleges and agencies we struck agreements with during the summer and fall months, hopefully with a few more besides. Several colleges have already expressed interest in the webinars we’re developing.
Meanwhile, YHTP still receives calls from people in violent and unsafe relationships looking for help. We’ve arranged for call forwarding from our office line so we can receive these calls and make the necessary referrals.
The current crisis has not changed the need for YHTP and the services it provides. If anything, it provides us an opportunity for innovating new delivery systems that will serve us well in the future.
Times like these teach us to treasure the connections we have and the support we can provide to others. YHTP’s staff and Board of Directors wish to thank all of you who are working, in your own way, to make this crisis a little easier on everyone else. We wish you all not merely wellness in body, but peace in spirit.
