The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is introducing new divisions and branches that will jointly investigate crimes involving domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. Chief John Drake (a YHTP board member and longtime supporter) announced the organizational changes in a December 16 press conference.
Specifically, the MNPD has added an Interpersonal Crimes Branch to the department’s Investigative Services Bureau and created a Special Victims Division to investigate sex crimes and human trafficking.
Harmon Hunsicker, a 27-year Metro Police veteran, has been appointed as commander of the new Interpersonal Crimes Branch. He previously oversaw the Forensic Services Division based at MNPD’s crime lab. The new
Capt. Anthony McClain will head the Special Victims Division, overseeing lieutenant, two sergeants, and ten detectives. McClain, whose promotion a captain was also announced during this press conference, previously the Narcotics Unit in the Specialized Investigations Division.
